2022 Salary Survey Report

2022 Salary Survey Report

Welcome to our 2nd annual Salary Report. This survey is intended to provide you and hiring companies in the area with an ‘overview’ of current salaries and hiring trends within our field/industry. We asked our candidates and hiring managers to provide an overview of salaries and hiring in 2022 in hopes we all have a better picture.

This year’s report has information about how employees and job seekers in our three core areas of Information Technology, Engineering, and Finance/Accounting are viewing and valuing their workplace, salary situation, benefits, and career plans.

A few 2022 Salary Survey key findings:

  • We asked our candidates if they are currently employed. As can be expected this number is a bit lower than the overall national average. However, compared to 2021 the number of responders who responded that they have a full-time position is up from 66% to 81% this year
  • Another major trend over the past year is more and more employees are working from home. 65% of responders said that they are currently either working fully remote or in a hybrid position.
  • Breaking it down further, 50% of employees working in IT and Finance/Accounting roles responded that they are working fully remote compared to 7.32% of employees in an engineering/manufacturing-related role responded that they’re working fully remote.
  • In 2021 28.11% of responders said they had not applied for a new job in the past 90 days. This year that number almost doubled to 50.86% indicating that most people who want to work are currently working and not applying for jobs.
  •  We asked if Covid has changed how employees view their employers. While 62.9% said it hadn’t, 17.7% said yes, more negatively and 19.4% said yes, more positively. On our podcast (see above) we discuss more in detail what some of the reasons for this may be.
  • Salary remained the #1 job satisfaction factor this year. The biggest change came with employees prioritizing for work from home flexibility, which increased from 43.8% to 56.9%.
  • When we asked about career plans for the upcoming year; in 2021 43.78% said that they are actively looking for a new job. This year, that number dropped down to 25.43% saying they will be looking for a new career opportunity.
  • When it comes to salary ranges, we saw a big increase in salaries over $100,000. 33% responded they earn more than $100,000 per year compared to 26% last year.
  • Breaking down compensation by career field, the Information Technology field has the overall highest salaries with 45% responding that they are making over $100,000 per year followed by 39% of employees in Accounting/Finance job roles responding that they’re making over $100,000/year. View the presentation below and take a listen to our podcast episode (above) for a more in-depth overview of salaries.
  • We asked our survey responders if they had worked with a staffing agency or recruiter before. Out of the 72.4% who said yes, 24% responded that they are making $50,000-$74,999 compared to 16% out of those who responded no. 18% who responded that they have worked with a recruiter reported that they make less than $50,000 compared to 30% who said that they have not worked with a recruiter before
